Happy Halloween, witches, magicians, and curious ones!!!
As a little haunted child, Halloween was my absolute favorite holiday. Maybe it was the costumes, or the candy, or the ghoulish aesthetic, but—even today—I can feel the distinctive electrical current of October 31. While other kids counted down to Christmas, I was fully invested in Halloween. There was nothing I anticipated more feverishly.
But, at a certain age, Halloween started getting weird… and not in the good way. From teenage years on, there was pressure to plan, pressure to dress up, pressure to “have fun.” Thankfully, as part of my spiritual practice, I was able reconnect with the electricity of Halloween by diving into its origin—honoring what makes this day so incredibly enchanted, and why our ancestors have been observing the occasion for centuries.
Below, my favorite ritual for Halloween that’s easy, effective, and can be practiced by anyone, anywhere. You’ll find a step-by-step guide, an overview of Samhain (the witch’s equivalent to Halloween), and learn how to connect to the spirit realm by crafting safe, sacred spaces.
