It’s a weird time to be an astrologer.
It’s difficult to be in the business of #explaining and #predicting and #patternmaking when what’s happening on the ground—in the real tangible world right in front of us—is abject destruction.
But, after a decade of practice, I’ve come to realize that if astrology is approached ethically, responsibility, and compassionately, (did I mention ethically?!), we can still work with this brilliant resource to offer insight, illumination, and inspiring archetypes that gently guide us through the darkness—or, at the very least, serve as a reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. That nothing is permanent. That this, too, shall pass.
In numerology, 2025 is a 9 year (signifying karmic, spiritual completion) and—in tarot—it’s the year of the Hermit. While the Hermit card is often misunderstood as a symbol of isolation or withdrawal, in reality, it symbolizes a spiritual beacon. It’s not about turning away from the world but about stepping back to find clarity; to shine a light inward so that we may understand our role in the bigger picture. The Hermit teaches us that illumination doesn’t come from outside; it comes from within. And at a time like this, the Hermit’s light reminds us that we each have the power to guide ourselves—and each other—toward hope and healing.
Under the light of the Full Moon in Cancer and quickly approaching Aquarius Season (while Pluto also just begins it two-decade journey through this radical air sign), we’re reminded of the wild and uncompromising spirit of care—the rebellion of nurturing. It’s time to reject the structures that have failed us and, instead, build support systems with our own hands. We don’t need to wait for rules or permission; the act of coming together—of relinquishing the isolation of individualism for the greater good—is an act of radical love and resistance. This week, we’re inspired to embody this spirit of mutual care, resilience, and connection.
And, on a personal note, I feel compelled to mention that my practice would not exist without Los Angeles. It was during my time living in Los Angeles that I discovered my metaphysical roots, began studying astrology, learned how to trust my intuition, and establish my spiritual foundation. I lost and found myself in Los Angeles. This tragedy is truly incomprehensible, and I’m committed to supporting Angelenos through financial contributions, physical donations, and everything in between. I’m tuned in and listening. My heart is broken for Los Angeles—the most magical place with the most magical people. And magic can never be destroyed; only redirected. Magic is forever.
Monday, January 13 3:13 AM ET: Sun (23° Capricorn) trine Uranus (23° Taurus)
The week begins with a surge of innovation and fresh perspectives. The Sun’s harmonious alignment with Uranus encourages us to embrace change and take bold steps forward. This transit inspires breakthroughs and the courage to challenge outdated structures, offering clarity on how we can truly create something better.
Monday, January 13 5:27 PM ET: Full Moon in Cancer (24°)
This Full Moon illuminates themes of nurture, support, and emotional safety. Cancer’s tender energy invites us to honor our deepest feelings and to care for one another without hesitation. Under the light of this lunation, the tension between emotional vulnerability and the protective walls we’ve built may come to the forefront, leading to profound spiritual breakthroughs. Let the Moon guide you toward acts of care that ripple outward, strengthening bonds and nurturing the collective.
As always, I’m hosting a Coven Meeting in the Constellation Club TONIGHT (Monday, January 13 at 8PM ET). We’ll be sharing as a collective, I’ll walk us through a guided meditation, and we’ll perform a powerful water-based release and protection ritual. All levels welcome—hope to see you there! (Can’t make the live? Replays available!)
Tuesday, January 14 2:48 PM ET: Venus (12° Pisces) square Jupiter (12° Gemini)
This aspect amplifies desires, dreams, and indulgences. While Venus in Pisces seeks spiritual and emotional connection, Jupiter in Gemini stirs curiosity and intellectual stimulation—the challenge lies in balancing these energies without overextending yourself. Be mindful of promises that feel too grand to fulfill.
Wednesday, January 15 9:39 PM ET: Sun (26° Capricorn) opposite Mars Rx (26° Cancer)
A powerful midpoint of the week as the Sun and retrograde Mars lock in opposition. This transit highlights inner and outer conflicts, particularly around the tension between long-term legacy (Capricorn) and emotional needs (Cancer). Patience and introspection are crucial to navigating this charged energy.
Friday, January 17 6:20 AM ET: Sun (27° Capricorn) sextile Neptune (27° Pisces)
Gentle inspiration flows as the Sun forms a harmonious connection with Neptune. This transit is ideal for creative pursuits, spiritual practices, and acts of compassion. It’s a reminder that dreams and imagination are powerful tools for healing and growth.
Saturday, January 18 8:26 PM ET: Venus conjunct Saturn (16° Pisces)
Venus and Saturn join forces in Pisces, asking us to reflect on the commitments that matter most. This is a powerful time to solidify meaningful connections and invest in what truly aligns with your values. Big day for important relationship conversations.
Sunday, January 19 2:38 AM ET: Mercury (16° Capricorn) sextile Saturn (16° Pisces)
Mercury forms two supportive sextiles, first with Saturn and then with Venus, creating an atmosphere of clarity and cooperation. Conversations are productive and heartfelt, bridging the gap between pragmatism and compassion. Use this energy to make plans or address important matters with grace.
Sunday, January 19 3:00 PM ET: Sun enters Aquarius
As the Sun moves into Aquarius, the focus shifts toward collective progress and innovation. The next 30-days will inspire us to think about how we can contribute to the greater good, embrace our individuality, and carve our own path forward. It’s an invitation to embrace freedom while working toward a shared vision for the future.
