Your birth chart is a two-dimensional map that illuminates the position of every planet, asteroid, and celestial point in the sky at the exact moment of your arrival. This map is structured around your Rising Sign—that is, which zodiac sign was ascending over the eastern horizon at your precise minute of birth. And, from that pivotal placement, all of the other zodiac signs (along with the celestial bodies) are plotted across this perfect circle—this mystical 360º wheel.

This wheel is divided into 12 sections, which are referred to as “Houses.” Likewise, every planet in the sky is positioned within a House. Think of it this way: Planets are objects and Houses are areas, and the quality of an object is informed by the area it occupies (for example, a sharp butcher knife has a different meaning in the kitchen as opposed to the bedroom). Likewise, the Moon in your birth chart will exude different energy if it occupies your Third House of Communication, your Eighth House of Transformation, or your Tenth House of Career (more on these Houses below). To put it simply, the Houses give our birth charts meaning.

So what do the 12 Houses mean for you, individually? And how do they offer deeper insight into your birth chart? And how can you incorporate them into your own self-actualization journey? Read on to find out!
